How soon can I pick up my translation?

Usually, we need around 4 working days to prepare your translation, counting from the day after we receive your assignment. For projects that include specialised terminology or other special features, our timeline may vary. The timeline and the exact delivery appointment are decided and agreed upon exclusively with each client according to their needs.

How much does it cost to translate a document?

The translation cost is determined based on the volume, the language, the format and the type of document you wish to translate. For that reason, it is essential for us to view your document (either in person at our office or via e-mail) so that we can give you a precise quote for your translation.

When do I need an Apostille?

If you wish to submit your documents to private organisations or companies, usually a true and certified translation is adequate, without an Apostille.

However, for any kind of transaction with public offices, services or organisations in Greece or abroad such as local authorities, registries, ministries, financial organisations, courts, universities, etc., your original documents need to be validated with an Apostille.

    What exactly is an Apostille?

An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document (e.g., a birth, marriage or death certificate, a judgment, an extract of a register or a notarial attestation).  Apostilles can only be issued for documents issued in one country party to the Apostille Convention and that are to be used in another country which is also a party to the Convention. You will need an Apostille if all of the following apply: • the country where the document was issued is party to the Apostille Convention; and • the country in which the document is to be used is party to the Apostille Convention; and • the law of the country where the document was issued considers it to be a public document; and • the country in which the document is to be used requires an Apostille in order to recognise it as a foreign public document

If you have any doubts, you should ask the intended recipient of your document whether an Apostille is necessary in your particular case.

How is an Apostille affixed and when does the document need to be translated?

An Apostille must be placed directly on the public document itself or on a separate attached page. This is a procedure that has to be completed before the document is translated into the language you require. Before you assign the translation of your document to us, you must ensure that your document bears an Apostille by the competent authority. You can contact the competent public authority that issued your document in order to be informed regarding this procedure. Alternatively, you can call our office so that we can offer you guidance and instructions about how to proceed.

Which are the competent authorities in Greece for the Apostille?

A public document can only be apostillised by the relevant Competent Authority of the country that issued the document. The list of all Competent Authorities designated by each country that has joined the Apostille Convention is available in the Apostille Section of the Hague Conference website.

The competent authorities in Greece authorised to issue an Apostille are the following:

    DECENTRALISED ADMINISTRATIONS

    DISTRICT AUTHORITIES

    FIRST-INSTANCE COURTS

Please call our office and we can offer you all the required information and instructions.

Do you use automated translation machines for your translations?

We do not use automated translation tools that one can usually find online, as the translations they provide are extremely inaccurate and are not up to professional standards. However, we do use other specialized translation tools available for professional translators which aim to optimize the final result.
